Yes, Battlefield 6 is crossplay. PC players on Steam, the EA app and the Epic Games Store share servers with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players, and crossplay is switched on by default. The details differ by platform: console players get a setting and some protection from PC lobbies, PC players get neither.
Everything here comes from EA’s own help pages, the official Battlefield 6 FAQ and the Battlefield team’s community updates, checked on 5 November 2026.

Which Platforms Play Together
EA’s FAQ lists Battlefield 6 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, the EA app and the Epic Games Store. The game launched on 10 October 2025.
All of those platforms can end up in the same match. On Steam you don’t need the EA app, but you do need an EA account. Epic Games Store copies run through the EA app and also need an EA account.
How Console Matchmaking Works
This is the part most console players are asking about. EA’s cross-play help page says:
- With crossplay on, console matchmaking prioritises other console players.
- You are only matched with PC players if there aren’t enough players on console.
The Battlefield team said the same in its June 2026 community update: it tries to match console players with other console players first, then lets PC players in to fill a server rather than make everyone wait. So a PS5 player with crossplay on mostly meets PS5 and Xbox players, but can still meet PC players at quieter times.
EA’s FAQ adds one caveat about crossplay preferences in general: during extended wait times, your preference may be overridden.
How to Turn Off Crossplay (Console Only)
From EA’s help page:
- Open Battlefield 6.
- Select the cog to open the settings menu.
- Select System.
- Under Setup, toggle Cross-play off.
With crossplay off, you only play with people on the same platform as you. A PS5 player then only meets PS5 players, and an Xbox player only meets Xbox players.
You can’t change the setting while you are in a party, in a server or already matchmaking, so leave the queue first.
Is There Console-Only Crossplay?
Not as its own setting. Players have asked for a PS5 plus Xbox option that keeps PC out entirely. In its June 2026 community update, the Battlefield team said it has discussed a console-only option, but that it would add another matchmaking pool, which is the main drawback.
What you get instead is the console-first matchmaking above. With crossplay on, you are pooled with both consoles and PC only fills the gaps. With it off, you are on your own platform.
Can PC Players Turn Off Crossplay?
No. EA’s help page says you can only view and change crossplay settings on Xbox and PlayStation. On 21 October 2026, in the Season 5 community update, the team answered this exact question: there are no current plans to add an option for PC players to turn off crossplay, because it could hurt the matchmaking work they are doing. The same update said a Server Browser is coming later in Season 5.
Playing With Friends on Other Platforms
Cross-platform friends go through EA Connect:
- Press TAB on PC, or the button the game shows on controller, to open EA Connect.
- Go to Player search and type your friend’s EA ID or platform ID.
- Select Add friend. They accept from the Friend requests tab.
- Invite them to your party from the Party tab.
A party mixing PC and console players will be matched with PC players, since the PC player cannot turn crossplay off.
Controllers, Aim Assist and Input Devices
A mixed lobby means mixed inputs, and EA is strict about what is allowed. Its August 2026 anticheat update says supported devices and software such as the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Steam Input are fine. Devices that give aim assist to a mouse and keyboard, or that run macros or scripts, are banned as cheating, and the update names XIM as an example. Update 2.1.1.0 on 12 October 2026 also cut recoil compensation for controller input from 11% to 5%.
Crossplay and Cheaters
Cheating is the main reason console players ask about crossplay. Battlefield 6 runs EA’s Javelin anticheat, and on PC it requires Secure Boot. Our Wiki explains the Battlefield 6 Secure Boot requirement. On console, leaving crossplay on keeps PC players to a minimum, and turning it off removes them entirely, at the cost of longer queues on your own platform.
For PC players, our Battlefield 6 cheat for the EA app and Steam versions is a Windows build only and does nothing on PlayStation or Xbox. It also covers REDSEC, with its own REDSEC cheat page. Frequently asked questions
Is Battlefield 6 cross platform?
Yes. PC players on Steam, the EA app and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 players and Xbox Series X|S players can all play together. Crossplay is turned on by default.
Can you turn off crossplay in Battlefield 6?
Only on console. Open the settings cog, select System, then under Setup toggle Cross-play off. You can't change it while you are in a party, in a server or matchmaking. PC players have no crossplay setting.
Does Battlefield 6 have console-only crossplay?
Not as a separate setting. With crossplay on, console players are matched with other console players first, and PC players only join when there are not enough console players. With crossplay off, you only play with your own platform, so a PS5 player only meets PS5 players.
Will PC players get an option to turn off crossplay?
Not for now. In its Season 5 community update on 21 October 2026, the Battlefield team said it has no current plans to add one, because it would hurt matchmaking.
How do I add a friend on another platform in Battlefield 6?
Open EA Connect (TAB on PC), go to Player search, type their EA ID or platform ID, select Add friend, and invite them to your party from the Party tab once they accept.
