The Best DayZ Servers In 2026

DayZ Standalone has thousands of community servers, and most of them are empty, abandoned or one admin’s hobby project. The server you pick decides your loot, your rules, who you meet on the coast and whether your base survives the week. This list is the short version of the good DayZ servers: the communities that are actually running, populated and maintained in October 2026.

We checked each server below against its own site, the server trackers and current 2026 coverage. We left out anything we could not confirm is still live. Player counts move by the hour, so treat the numbers as a guide and check BattleMetrics before you settle in.

The best DayZ servers in 2026, ranked

1. KarmaKrew (vanilla+, PC, Xbox, PlayStation): the best all-rounder. Stable, busy and wiped on a schedule.
2. Rearmed (solo, duo, trio, PC): the best server for small groups, with a hard group cap.
3. Spaggie (vanilla, PC): the cleanest moderated vanilla experience.
4. Official servers (vanilla, every platform): pure DayZ as Bohemia ships it.
5. Kryptic (PvP, PC): nonstop fighting, heavy loot and kill feeds.
6. Sunnyvale (PvE with PvP zones, PC): the easiest way into DayZ without coastal ambushes.
7. Archon PvE (modded PvE, PC): no PvP at all, helicopters, boats and a deep mod list.
8. XDC DayZ (modded, PC): actively developed servers on Chernarus, Sakhal and Deer Isle.
9. Aftermath (modded, PC): a vanilla plus network across five maps.
10. DayZRP (roleplay, PC): the oldest and largest whitelisted RP community.
11. DayZ Underground (roleplay, PC): relaxed, organic roleplay without the paperwork.
12. Noobs Only (beginner PvE, PC): a safe place to learn the game.

Best vanilla and vanilla+ DayZ servers

Vanilla means the game as Bohemia ships it. Vanilla+ adds small fixes, such as better loot balance, a map tweak or a stricter anti cheat, without turning DayZ into a different game. Most players who say they want a good DayZ server want one of these.

KarmaKrew (best overall)

KarmaKrew runs 18 servers across PC, Xbox and PlayStation, with Chernarus, Livonia, Sakhal, Alteria and Namalsk in the rotation. The setup is vanilla+ with a slight lean toward PvP, and it is a favourite of DayZ content creators for its stability and fast admins. The Discord has more than 100,000 members, with separate channels for PC and console.

What makes it worth playing is the variety inside one community. There are first person only servers, a “no bases” Chernarus server for players who hate offline raids, and console servers with alt account detection. KarmaKrew wiped through 2026 with a new loot economy in June and base building exploit fixes in August.

Spaggie (best pure vanilla on PC)

Spaggie’s servers run with no mods at all: Chernarus in three flavours (Blue, Green and Orange), plus Livonia and Sakhal. Players describe it as the official experience, but moderated by admins. Kill on sight is allowed, so expect the real DayZ. Spaggie also runs a Namalsk Hardcore server if you want cold and misery on top. Search “Spaggie” in the official DayZ Launcher to find them.

Official servers (every platform)

Bohemia’s official servers are the baseline. No mods, no custom rules, first person and third person options, and they are the first servers on a new game version when an update lands. The downside is that nobody moderates behaviour, and official servers get full wipes with major updates (1.29 wiped characters and servers in April 2026).

Best PvP DayZ servers

Kryptic

Kryptic is the go-to PvP community on PC. Loot is heavy, high tier guns are easy to find, and the servers add a kill feed and leaderboards. It plays closer to a deathmatch than a survival game, and that is exactly why it fills up: its Chernarus servers were listed at or near their 120 player cap when we checked. Admins are active and server performance is a strong point. Kryptic also runs a Livonia server that is PvE with PvP areas, so check which one you are joining.

KarmaKrew 1PP

For PvP that still feels like DayZ, KarmaKrew’s first person servers remove third person peeking, so every corner and wall matters. Gear is earned the normal way, which makes each fight mean more.

Best PvE DayZ servers

PvE servers take player killing out of the game, or limit it to marked zones, so the threat is the infected, the weather and hunger. They are the best place for new players to learn the map.

Archon PvE

Archon is a UK and EU PvE community with no PvP anywhere. Its Chernarus server runs more than 160 mods, including helicopters, boats, expanded base building, a trader, missions and a roaming “Dark Horde” of tougher infected. Archon also runs Deer Isle, Banov and Livonia. The community has a reputation for being friendly, which matters on PvE.

Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale splits its Chernarus servers by playstyle: PvE with PvP zones, PvP for clans, and group capped PvP. The PvE with PvP zones servers are the best of both. You can live peacefully and only fight when you walk into a marked zone. Sunnyvale’s servers join through the DZSA Launcher.

Noobs Only

Noobs Only bans PvP and base raiding and is built for people in their first few hundred hours. Admins run events and the Discord has channels for newcomer questions. One warning: several servers use the Noobs Only name, so search the exact name and confirm through its Discord before you join.

Best modded DayZ servers

Modded servers are PC only, because console DayZ does not load Steam Workshop mods. Expect a longer first join while mods download.

XDC DayZ

XDC runs Chernarus, Sakhal and Deer Isle and is still under active development in 2026. A September 2026 server pack update added the custom XDC Tunnel System, and the team runs end of wipe events such as a server wide scavenger hunt with boosted loot.

Aftermath

Aftermath is a vanilla plus network across Chernarus, Livonia, Namalsk, Deer Isle and Pripyat, with most maps edited to add new areas. It adds over a hundred server exclusive guns and attachments and its own base building mod. It is a good step up if vanilla loot starts to feel thin.

Archon PvE

Archon also belongs here. With 160+ mods it is one of the deepest modded experiences in DayZ, just without PvP.

Best roleplay DayZ servers

DayZRP

DayZRP has been running since 2012 and is the largest and oldest DayZ roleplay community. You apply for a whitelist and pass a Steam account check, then install the DayZRP mod, which only works on their servers. The core rule is no kill on sight: you have to interact with another player before any hostile action. The community runs regular scheduled events, so there is usually a story going on.

DayZ Underground

DayZ Underground is the easier way into roleplay. It focuses on “organic” RP with no forced interactions, on an enhanced vanilla setup with first person, new content and rebalanced base destruction. Firefights still break out, so it suits players who want stories without a rulebook.

Best solo and duo DayZ servers

Rearmed

Rearmed’s Solo Duo Trio servers cap groups at three players, which stops large clans from owning the map. They run on Chernarus in the US and EU with around 120 slots, and the US servers were among the busiest community servers on the trackers when we checked. Sunnyvale group capped servers

Sunnyvale runs a Chernarus server limited to groups of three in first person. It is a good second option if Rearmed is full. For staying alive without a squad on any server, read our guide to playing DayZ solo.

Best DayZ servers on console (Xbox and PS5)

Console players have fewer choices because console servers cannot run Workshop mods. Community servers on Xbox and PlayStation are rented through Nitrado, and their owners change loot, spawns and rules through config files instead.

• Official servers are the default on both consoles.
• KarmaKrew is the biggest console community, with Chernarus and Livonia on Xbox and servers on PlayStation. Its Xbox Chernarus server holds 70 players and restarts every six hours.

Crossplay is limited. Since update 1.29 in April 2026, Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store version of DayZ on PC share servers through Xbox Play Anywhere. The Steam version on PC keeps its own servers, and PlayStation does not cross play with anyone.

How to pick a good DayZ server

• Match the playstyle first. PvP, PvE, RP, modded and group capped servers are different games. Pick the type, then the server.
• Check the population at your hours. A server that is full at 9pm in Europe can be empty when you play in the US. BattleMetrics shows population history and uptime.
• Pick 1PP or 3PP. First person servers stop players peeking over walls with the camera. Third person is more forgiving.
• Read the rules and join the Discord. Raid times, base limits, KoS rules and wipe dates live there.
• Watch the ping. Pick a server in your region. High ping makes desync and rubber banding far more likely.
• Expect downtime after big updates. Update 1.30 and the Badlands DLC arrive on 15 October 2026, and Bohemia has warned that some animation mods may break. Modded servers can be offline for a few days while their mods catch up. Vanilla and official servers update first.

How to join a DayZ server

1. On PC (Steam), open the official DayZ Launcher, go to the Servers tab and search the server’s name. The launcher downloads any Workshop mods the server needs.
2. For servers that use the DZSA Launcher, such as Sunnyvale, install the DZSA Launcher and join from its server list.
3. On Xbox or PlayStation, open the in-game server browser, switch to community servers and search the name.
4. Join the Discord linked in the server name or description before you play, so you know the rules on day one.
