On this page 8 sections
Most of the players you have called a cheater in Ultimate Team were not cheating. Real cheaters do exist in EA FC 27, they live on PC, and the tells are specific enough to spot once you know them. But most rage messages sent after a Rivals loss are aimed at lag, a better player, a stacked squad or a belief in scripting. This post separates the two so you stop wasting reports on the wrong people and start filing them on the right ones.
Why most cheater calls in Ultimate Team are wrong
Start here, because if you skip this section you will see cheats everywhere.
Lag makes good players look superhuman
Input delay is the biggest source of false cheater calls in the series. When your presses arrive late, your defender takes an extra step before the tackle, your keeper comes out a beat after you asked, and your shot goes off a heavier touch than you intended. Meanwhile your opponent’s inputs land on time. From your side, it looks like they react before you do. From their side, the match feels normal.
The giveaway is that the problem is on your end. Watch for the connection indicator, players who slide instead of turn, and passes that leave the boot a fraction after you press. If that describes your match, the opponent was not cheating. Our post on the best settings for EA FC 27 covers the connection and controller options that shave delay, and that fix wins more games than any report ever will.
They were simply better than you
Rivals puts you against people near your level, but “near” is a wide band, and Champions matches are wider still. A player who greens timed finishes at a high rate, knows which passes the AI defenders cannot read, and never panics in their own box will look scripted if you have never played someone that good. They have put in the hours, nothing more.
Timed finishing is the mechanic that gets misread most. A well-timed press gives a harder, more accurate strike, and a player who has drilled the window will green far more than you expect. Spend ten minutes on the free timed finishing trainer and compare your own green rate with what you saw in the match. Our explainer on how timed finishing works in EA FC 27 shows why the window feels different on different shots.
A meta squad is a coin problem, not a cheat problem
A full meta team in the first week feels like proof of something. It is usually proof that the opponent traded well, played the market at launch, or spent money on packs. None of that is cheating. A stacked squad by itself is evidence of a bigger budget or a better trader, nothing else. Shape and playstyle knowledge matter more than the squad rating anyway, which is why our guide to the best formations for EA FC 27 spends more time on structure than on cards.
The scripting belief
Then there is scripting. Momentum, DDA, handicap, whatever your Discord calls it. The facts are these: EA holds patents on dynamic difficulty adjustment technology, and EA has said publicly that it is not used in its football games. Both statements are true. Neither one proves that your opponent cheated. Our post on scripting and momentum in EA FC 27 goes through both sides properly. For this post, the important point is simple. Scripting, whether it exists or not, would be something the game does. A cheater is something a player does. Do not confuse them.
How to spot a cheater in EA FC 27: the real tells
Real cheats in this series run on PC. Console players cannot run them. If you are on console and cross-play is on, your opponent could still be on PC, so the tells are worth knowing whatever you play on. Cheats broadly do one of three things: read the match state and show the player information, automate an input, or interfere with the connection. Each leaves a different fingerprint.
Every timed finish is green, from every angle
A strong human player greens most of their timed finishes in comfortable situations. A cheat greens all of them, including the ones no human would attempt. The tell is the impossible shot: a first-time volley from a bad bounce, a shot on the turn with a defender on the back, a finish from a tight angle with the keeper set. When those go in with the green timing every single time, across a full match, you are looking at automated timing. One or two is a good player having a night. Twelve out of twelve is not.
Through balls that split the line the instant it forms
Watch when the through ball is played, not where. A human waits for the run, sees the gap and plays it, with a visible delay between the gap opening and the pass leaving. An automated through ball goes the same frame the defensive line breaks, every time, with the same weight, before the runner has shaped to go. If the pass keeps arriving before you could have seen the gap yourself, and never overhits, note it down.
Free kicks from everywhere with identical technique
Free kicks are hard for a reason. Distance, angle, wall position and keeper position all change the answer, and a human’s technique varies with each. A cheater scores from thirty-five yards and from twenty with the same curve, the same power and the same run-up, and never puts one in the wall. Check how the mechanic actually works in our EA FC 27 free kicks guide, then compare. A player who has practised still misses from bad positions. A player who never misses from anywhere is the tell.
Tackles that never mistime
A defensive assist is the hardest to spot because good defending looks calm. The tell is the absence of mistakes. Every standing tackle lands on the first attempt. Every jockey holds the exact angle that closes the finesse. Nobody is ever pulled out of position. Over a full match, even elite players mistime a tackle or overcommit. If your opponent’s defending contains zero errors and their attacking is ordinary, something is reading the pitch for them.
A squad that makes no sense for the division
Coins can be bought from third-party sellers, which is against EA’s rules, and coin-bought squads stand out because the team is far beyond what the player’s skill and division would suggest. An impossibly stacked team in a low Rivals division, run by someone who cannot string three passes together, is the profile of a bought account or bought coins. It is not gameplay cheating, but EA does act on it. Report it as coin buying, not as a gameplay cheat, and expect nothing dramatic to happen straight away.
Transfer market sniping bots
Auto-buy tools watch the market and buy any card listed under a set price within a fraction of a second. You will never meet the bot in a match. You will meet it when you list a card at a mistaken buy-now and it is gone before the page refreshes, or when every snipe you attempt is beaten by someone quicker than a human could be. Bots are one thing EA can police from the server side, because the buying pattern is visible to them in a way an in-match overlay is not.
Disconnects and lag switches
A lag switch throttles the cheater’s connection for a moment so the match stalls while they are in trouble, then catches up with the ball somewhere else. The tell is timing: the stutter happens exactly when you are through on goal and never when they are attacking. Deliberate disconnect abuse is the other version: forcing the match to end without a result, or making you take the loss, when they are behind. Ordinary lag is random. Abuse is convenient.
Squad Battles score exploits
Squad Battles rewards are decided by a leaderboard, and every so often a score appears at the top that could not have been reached by playing the maximum number of matches on the highest difficulty and winning every one. That is a score exploit, and it is cheating under EA’s rules even though nobody was in the match with you. If a score is far beyond what a perfect week would produce, report the name.
Sign, could be legit, cheat if
| Sign | Could be legit because | Cheat if |
|---|---|---|
| Green timed finishes on nearly every shot | Timed finishing is learnable and top players green most comfortable finishes | Every shot is green including volleys, tight angles and shots on the turn, across the whole match |
| Through balls that always find the runner | Good players learn which gaps the AI defence cannot cover | The pass goes the exact moment the line breaks, every time, never overhit, before the run is visible |
| Free kicks scored from far out | Some players practise set pieces for hours | Identical curve and power from every distance and never one in the wall |
| Defending with no mistakes | Calm, patient defenders exist and jockeying is a skill | Zero mistimed tackles over a full match while everything else is average |
| Meta squad in a low division | Traders, launch-week grinders and pack buyers all get there fast | Squad rating is far beyond the division and the player cannot play at that level |
| Cards vanish the instant they are listed | Plenty of humans snipe the market with fast refreshes | A card listed under price goes in under a second, every time, at any hour |
| Freezes when you are through on goal | Connections drop at random | The stall only ever hits during your attacks and never during theirs |
| Impossible Squad Battles score | Someone played every match on the top difficulty and won them all | The score exceeds what a perfect week can mathematically produce |
Using match facts and the replay to check your suspicion
You have two tools in the game itself, and both are better than your memory.
The match facts screen after the final whistle is the first. Look at shots and shots on target together with the number of goals. Five from six on target, all timed, is possible for a human in a single match, so treat it as a flag, not a verdict. Pass accuracy is more useful. Anything near perfect from a player who was pinging through balls all match is worth a second look, because through balls are the passes humans overhit most. A huge tackle count with near-perfect success and few fouls is either a very tidy defender or an assisted one. The pause menu shows the same numbers live at half-time.
The replay is the second tool and the better one. After any goal you can rewind and watch it from different angles, and highlights can be saved after the match. Use the camera behind the shooter and watch the strike. A human’s timed finish varies: sometimes early, sometimes bang on, sometimes late. A cheated one lands in the same spot of the animation every time. On a through ball, watch the passer’s body, not the ball. A human shapes to pass after the run is visible. Automated timing plays it before. Save the clip, because it is your evidence.
One caution. An overlay that reads the pitch and shows a player what to do is invisible in a replay. You can only see the results, and results are only suspicious when they are perfect. That is why the table above keeps coming back to “every time” and “never”.
How to report a cheater in EA FC 27 properly
Report through the game first. The option sits on the opponent’s profile, which you can reach from the post-match screens, or through your platform’s recent players list if you missed it. Pick the category that fits: cheating for gameplay tools, and the relevant category for coin buying or market abuse. Do not pick cheating for someone who simply beat you, because a stream of false reports from your account makes the true ones weigh less.
If the in-game route is not enough, EA Help has a form for reporting a player. What helps there is specifics, not anger. Give the exact EA ID as it appeared in the match, the platform, the mode, the date and rough time, the score, and what you saw. Attach the saved replay clip or a screenshot of the match facts. A report that says “green on every shot including a first-time volley from the byline at 34 minutes, clip attached” gets read. A report that says “obvious cheater” does not.
EA does not tell you the outcome, and a ban is not the only response. Our EA FC 27 anti-cheat and bans explainer covers what Javelin can see on PC, and the support article on how bans work explains why account-level bans are the usual result. You may just stop seeing that name.
What to do when you meet one
Finish the match if you can. Quitting hands them the win they were after. Play safe, keep the ball, and spend the second half gathering evidence. Save the replay of at least one impossible moment. Note the ID before the post-match screens go by. Report in game, then decide whether it is worth the EA Help form.
Do not message them. An abusive message from you is easier for EA to action than the cheat you are describing. Do not add them to a public naming list either, because false accusations spread faster than true ones and a lot of the names on those lists belong to players who are just good.
Then move on. One cheater in a weekend is a nuisance. Letting them wreck the next three matches is a choice.
What a well-made assist looks like from the other side
Honesty is due here, since we build one. Assistance tools for this series come in two shapes. The blunt kind automates an input: it fires the timed press, plays the through ball, presses the tackle. That is the kind you can spot, because automation is perfect and perfection is the tell. The other kind reads the match and shows the player what to do, and the player still has to do it with their own thumbs.
The Elocarry EA FC 27 cheat is launching as the second kind: a real-time reader that recommends the shot, pass, through ball or tackle timing with the power and moment to pull it off, on PC alongside EA’s Javelin anti-cheat. Its recommendation-only mode is the reason it can be played without looking like a bot. The overlay shows the suggestion and a confidence percentage, the player presses the button, and the result carries the same variance a replay shows in any decent player: occasionally early, occasionally late, sometimes ignored altogether. The trainer and recommendation-only mode page lists the modes in full, and the support article on how detection works explains why no build is ever called guaranteed undetected and why sales pause when live status looks off.
An overlay leaves no trace in the replay, so you will not catch a reading tool by watching clips. You will catch automation, because automation cannot help being flawless. The behaviour to report is the perfect behaviour. Everything else is a good player, a bad connection, or a night that just did not go your way.
Frequently asked questions
Is my opponent cheating in EA FC 27 or just better than me?
Usually better. A strong player greens most comfortable timed finishes, plays through balls you did not see coming and defends calmly, and that looks unnatural if you have not met that level before. The difference is consistency. A good player still mistimes shots, overhits through balls and gets caught out of position a few times a match. A cheat does none of those things, ever.
Can you cheat in EA FC 27 on PS5 or Xbox?
No. Console players cannot run cheat software. Gameplay cheats exist only on the PC version, which runs EA's Javelin anti-cheat. If cross-play is on, a console player can still meet a PC opponent, so the tells are worth knowing on any platform. Coin buying and market bots are platform-independent because they happen outside the match.
How do I report a cheater in EA FC 27?
Use the report option on the opponent's profile from the post-match screens and pick the category that matches what you saw. If you missed it, your platform's recent players list gets you back to the profile. For anything serious, follow up with the report a player form on EA Help and include the exact EA ID, platform, mode, date, time and a saved replay clip.
What evidence helps when reporting a cheater in EA FC?
Specifics. The opponent's ID exactly as shown, the mode and the rough time of the match, the final score, a screenshot of the match facts screen and a saved replay of at least one impossible moment. Describe the moment in plain terms, for example a green timed volley from the byline at a stated minute. Reports that just say cheater with no detail are hard to act on.
Is scripting the same as cheating in EA FC 27?
No. Scripting, momentum and DDA are community terms for the belief that the game itself tilts matches. EA holds patents on dynamic difficulty adjustment and has said it is not used in its football games. Whatever you believe about that, it is something the game would be doing, not your opponent. A cheater is a player running software or abusing the connection, and that is what a report is for.
How do I tell a lag switch from ordinary lag in EA FC 27?
By timing. Ordinary lag is random and hits both players, and it tends to show up as delayed inputs on your side all match. A lag switch is convenient. The freeze happens when you are through on goal or have just won the ball near their box, the match catches up with the danger gone, and it never seems to happen while they are attacking. One suspicious stall proves nothing. A pattern across a match is worth reporting.
Does EA tell you if a reported player gets banned?
No. EA does not report the outcome of an individual report back to you, and a ban is not the only action it can take. Cheating penalties on EA accounts are account-level under the Positive Play policy. The only sign you tend to get is that the name stops appearing, so report properly, save your evidence and move on rather than waiting for confirmation.
Is buying coins cheating in EA FC 27?
It is against EA's rules, and EA does act on coin buying and coin selling, but it is not a gameplay cheat and it will not make someone play better. A hugely stacked squad in a low division run by a player who cannot keep possession is the usual profile of bought coins or a bought account. Report it under the right category rather than as gameplay cheating, and do not expect an instant result.
