The loader will not open

If the loader will not open, something is usually blocking it from running. Work through these checks in order. Most people are fixed by step three.

Quick answer
Update Windows, uninstall boot-time anti-cheats such as Vanguard, FACEIT and ESEA, and run the command from normal PowerShell as administrator. Sync your Windows clock. In Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, connect a full VPN first, because an unblocker or proxy is not enough.

Work through these in order

  1. Make sure Windows is fully updated.
  2. Uninstall Vanguard, FACEIT, ESEA or any other boot-time anti-cheat, then restart. They can stop the loader from running.
  3. Run the command from normal Windows PowerShell as administrator. Not the x86 version and not PowerShell 7.
  4. Sync your Windows clock and time zone. An out-of-sync clock stops the loader validating your session. Fix your system clock.
  5. Add the loader to your antivirus exclusions, or turn real-time protection off while it starts, then switch it back on.
  6. In Russia, Turkey or Ukraine, or anywhere Discord is blocked, connect a VPN that routes all of your PC traffic before you run the command. Why you need a VPN.
  7. Still nothing? Run the DNS and IPv6 fix.

Finding normal PowerShell

Windows has more than one PowerShell, and only one of them is right. Press the Windows key, type PowerShell, then right-click Windows PowerShell and choose Run as administrator. Skip anything labelled x86, and skip PowerShell 7 if you installed it. See What to run as administrator for the full rule.

If the loader shows an error code

Write down the error code, or the last step code the loader showed before it stopped, and send it to Barry or put it in your ticket. It tells support exactly where the loader stopped, so the fix comes faster.

Common questions

Do I need a VPN to run the loader?

Only where something blocks it. In Russia, Turkey and Ukraine you need a VPN that routes all of your PC traffic. Unblockers and proxies are not enough there.

Why does my antivirus flag the loader?

Security software flags the loader for what it does, not because it is unsafe. Add it to your exclusions, or turn real-time protection off while it starts, then switch protection back on.
